Mariachiara Barzotto is Associate Professor in International Management at the University of Bath, School of Management. Prior to this, Mariachiara worked as an Assistant Professor at Newcastle University Business School and Essex Business School. She held a post-doctoral Marie Skłodowska-Curie Research Fellowship at Birmingham Business School, University of Birmingham. She obtained her doctoral degree in Business at the Advanced School of Economics, Ca’ Foscari University, Venice and was a visiting PhD student and research collaborator at Bayes Business School (previously known as Cass Business School), City University London. Her work focuses on skills, labour markets, new working spaces, smart specialisation, technological change and regional development (manly in lagging regions of advanced economies).
As a member of the Expert Stakeholder Group in PILLARS she aims to discuss evidence that guides policymakers to undertake informed choice on skill adaptation and industrial policies within – but not limited to – the Smart Specialization framework.
